Crocodile Island, once a sandy island in the Orewa Estuary, now
planted with pohutukawa, manuka and other native trees.
This small island in the Orewa estuary was almost completely burnt
over in 1994. Since then volunteers have been working to restore
the island back to its former state.
The island is a significant visual entity within a sensitive
estuarine ecosystem. There are very basic paths on the island.
Please try to use them.
Best times to visit is around 2 hours either side of low tide. Out
side these times you may need to wade.
Cache is a " Authentic" container, with a little cammo
applied....... Oh, and becareful of crocodiles....
