Geocache Description:

The park is freely visitable. In case of storm it’s forbidden to stay there.

The maison park can be found in an eastern-hungarian village, called Cégénydányád.
This settlement is consisted of originally two smaller villages of Cégény and Dányád. (The name of Cégény turns out in medieval presentments as a place of a monastery played a significant role in the life of the region)
The maison and its park were built and constructed in the early ages of the nineteenth century. This era was the time of the awakening of the hungarian national patriotism and it was pictured in externals too. The English (landscape) gardens were preferred to barroque (geometrical) gardens, as a separation from the Viennese fashion.
The owner Baron, Zsigmond Kende was in close relationship with Ferenc Kölcsey (1790-1838) (poet and politician), who was the writer the hungarian national anthem and stayed here several times.
During the formation of the park, the original vegetation near the Szamos river (grove woods), was partly left. In the first steps they only planted deciduous trees, the evergreen vegetation was only sited later by the grandchild of the founder.
The park lost the biggest parts of its territory under the second World War and the flood of Szamos Valley in 1970. (from 0,5 km2 to 0,16 km2)
Specialities: the coherent Winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis) vegetation, the presence of the red elderberry and Bottlebrush buckeye, which are unique in this region.
It’s worth to mention that there is a significant woodpecker and raven population in the garden.
I' ve enclosed a map to the description written in hungarian language. This list below could help in the determination of certain species.
