Geocache Description:

Jankovac is one of the nicest natural curiosity, located in the northern part of the Papuk Mointains. The place is easily accesible from central Croatia (Zagreb – Požega – Velika) or from the eastern part of the country and Hungary (Orahovica – Slatinski Drenovac). In the eighteenth century here was a settlement of glaziers, but because of lack of tree (it’s needed for heat the glass ovens) – they left the territory. This valley belonged to the manor of the Jankovic family. The earl Josip Jankovic realised the facilities of the place and had built a hunter’s lodge and made two stream lakes, in order to breeding trouts. The water from the lakes, was led into the canyon of Kovacica stream, making a thirty metres waterfall. Going above the lakes, we can see the cave of the spring of the Jankovac stream, a bit farther on we can find two caves, the first is an artifical one, this is the tomb of earl Jankovic, the other one was the hiding place of the former bandit Maksim Bojanic. Coming down from the side of the valley we can find the cache, not too long before the graves of the glaziers. In the countinuation of the walk, we will get back to the inn lodge. For the place has a peculiar, recreating atmosphere, don’t miss to visit Jankovac.
