This rubbermaid container is located near the Roanoke Marsh Lighthouse in the town of Manteo. This is a very high muggle zone but there are seats close by to relax and enjoy the view until the coast is clear. Please put the cache exactly where it was so it is not too hard to find for others. Jack, our 4 year old son, found this spot and insisted we put a geocache here. The original cottage-style screw-pile lighthouse stood at the southern entrance to Croatan Sound, near Wanchese. It was decommissioned in 1955, and lost in the Sound during an attempt to move it to private property. This new lighthouse is an active aid to navigation, guiding boats into Shallowbag Bay. We hope you enjoy the location as much as we do. Jack will be very happy if you find his hiding spot!

Note- This cache is NOT the letterbox located under the front steps.

Also went looking for it before we noticed it was inactive! Needless to say didn't find it, but had a great time visiting the harbor area and had a great lunch at the Hungry Pelican just around the corner!

Attempted to find despite it's inactive status.....was unable to locate it.


REALLY enjoyed the area tho. Manteo is a place you really wouldnt see if you stuck to the beach, TGF caching.

grabbed travel bug, wow nice hide. no muggles present made for easy search,the container is really water logged, someone must have not put the lid on well. tftc

Gave up Spent quite a while crawling around looking every where. did not look this one up on this site first, just followed our Geomate Jr. so we didn't have any clues. If it is there it is a good hiding spot
