This rubbermaid container is located near the Roanoke Marsh
Lighthouse in the town of Manteo. This is a very high muggle zone
but there are seats close by to relax and enjoy the view until the
coast is clear. Please put the cache exactly where it was so it is
not too hard to find for others. Jack, our 4 year old son, found
this spot and insisted we put a geocache here. The original
cottage-style screw-pile lighthouse stood at the southern entrance
to Croatan Sound, near Wanchese. It was decommissioned in 1955, and
lost in the Sound during an attempt to move it to private property.
This new lighthouse is an active aid to navigation, guiding boats
into Shallowbag Bay. We hope you enjoy the location as much as we
do. Jack will be very happy if you find his hiding spot!
Note- This cache is NOT the letterbox located under the front
steps.
