Pocumtuck Ridge Cache
#6 - Father's Day Cache
A fully stocked
geocache container was the surprise Father's Day gift for DanceMan.
DanceMan then painted the cammo using techniques from
Podcacher.com.
This is one of a
series of geocaches along the Pocumtuck Ridge. A portion of your
hike follows the blue blazed ridge trail. Unfortunately, every
trail on this part of the ridge is blazed blue.
You can park at the
gate on Pine Nook Rd. Proceed up the service road. [In recent
years, due to the communications towers, this gate has been open
and the road quite passable with a vehicle with decent
clearance.]
If you have just found
Pocumtuck Ridge Cache #5 - Old Nordic Ski Trails
Cache you can follow the unmarked trail that goes south and
then west up to the Ridge Trail. [The intersection with the Ridge
Trail is given in the waypoint below.]
An alternate approach
is from the Pocumtuck Rock Treasure Cache.
The cache is a regular
sized cammo Lock-and-Lock container. As you approach the cache area
you will need to bushwhack a short distance.
The 3.5 terrain rating
is primarily for the length (1 mile from the gate).
A 2007 Red Jeep awaits
the first finder.
