Introduction/ Uvod / Einleitung
"Hranice" and "Grenze" are two words for one thing - the border. What is a border? Just a line on a map, or something more significant? You will walk along this line. But will you be able to tell where exactly it runs in reality?
This cache has been set up by BBBubak from the Czech Republic and Tom Fels from Austria.
(The cache was first listed under Tom Fels's account and then transferred to BBBubak's account on 21st February 2012).
Hranice a Grenze jsou dve podobna slova pro jednu vec. Co je to vlastne hranice? Cara na mape? Pojdte se podel teto cary projit. Najdete ji ale vubec i ve skutecnem svete?
Tuto cache pripravili spolecne BBBubak z Ceske republiky a Tom Fels z Rakouska.
Hranice und Grenze sind beides Wörter für die gleiche Sache. Aber was ist die Grenze? Nur eine Line auf der Landkarte? Du wirst diese Linie entlanggehen. Aber, wo bist Du?

Getting started / Jak zacit / Vorbereitungen
This multi-stage cache has two possible starting points, one common meeting point and, of course, one final. You can start in the Czech Republic using Stage CZ1 – CZ4, or in Austria using stage A1 – A4. During the hunt, you will follow the border, and maybe cross it. Please don´t forget your passport!
Tato multicache ma dva mozne zacatky. Muzete zacit bud v Ceske Republice a projit stage CZ1 - CZ4, nebo v Rakousku, pres stage A1 – A4. Pote se obe trasy setkaji a pokracuji po spolecnem useku k finalnimu ukrytu. Behem lovu se budete pohybovat podel hranice a budete ji mozna muset i prekrocit, takze si nezapomente vzit ssebou doklady!
Dieser Multi hat zwei Anfangspunkte, einen Treffpunkt und, natürlich, einen finalcache. Du kannst entweder in der Tschechischen Republik mit den Stages CZ1 – CZ4 beginnen, oder in Österreich mit den Stages A1 – A4. Bei der Schatzsuche wirst Du der Grenze folgen, möglicherweise diese auch überqueren. Bitte vergiss Deinen Reisepass nicht!!

Stage CZ1 - Stare Vinice / Alter Weingarten / old Vineyard

POZOR - EDIT 5/2018: část vřesoviště je od letošního roku vyhrazená jako pastvina pro exmoorské poníky, kteří mají chránit cenná rostlinná společenstva před zarůstáním trávou a náletovými dřevinami. V některých částech roku bude přístup k této stage omezen. Poznáte to na bráně ohrady - je u ní průchod pro pěší, ovšem pokud jej bude zahrazovat zamčený řetízek, tak by tam aktuálně neměl nikdo chodit. O výhled přijít nemusíte - na kopec se dá vyjít po značené koňské stezce (značka je modrý puntík), která vede východně po rozhraní vřesoviště a vinohradů. Dostanete se po ní do vzdálenosti jen pár metrů od stage... ale ani potom nemusíte lézt přes plot: prostě si poznačte, že A = 5. :)
(Původní instrukce) Souradnice vas zavedou na maly kopecek pobliz hranice Narodniho parku Podyji. Pohybujte se proto prosim s respektem k okolnimu prostredi – drzte se cest a pesinek; cykliste by meli jet jen po sirokych cestach “traktorovkach”, po uzkych pesinkach uz pak kolo jen vest (jde jen o par metru) – zvlaste v usecich, kde jde pesina dolu z kopce. Díky!
Pokud prijedete autem nebo na motorce, odstavte svuj stroj zhruba na N48°48.338' E015°59.321' (od 21.2.2012 jsou to souradnice listingu, predtim byly "kdesi v Rakousku").
Na 1. stage najdete zvlastne tvarovanou skalku, tvorici jakesi kreslo. Posadte se do nej (pokud v nem ovsem po desti nestoji voda :) ) a podivejte se pred sebe. Pokud hledite smerem k Hnanicim (na jihozapad), poznamenejte si hodnotu X = 1. Pokud se vam naopak naskyta pohled na Havraniky (zhruba na vychod), X = 2.
Jeste se podivejte vpravo – hned vedle skalky je strom (nebo snad ker?). Jaky?

Poznamenejte si A, ktere ziskate souctem techto dvou pomocnych cisel. A = X+Y
The coordinates will lead you to a hillock near the boundary of Podyji (Thayatal) National Park area. Please, move with respect to the environment – keep to roads and footpaths; cyclists should ride their bicycles only on the wider 'tractor' roads and only push them on the footpaths (it means only a few meters of walking), especially when the path declines. Thank you!
ATTENTION - EDIT May/2018: from the spring of 2018, this stage may be temporatily unavailable. You can still get to the side of the hill and enjoy the view - just follow the marked horse-riding path (marked by blue dots) on the eastern side of the hill, between the heath and vineyards. There's no need to try and get to the stage - the value of A = 5. :)
If you come by car or motorcycle, leave your vehicle at N48°48.338', E015°59.321' (i.e. listing coordinates since 21.2.2012).
On the 1st stage, you should find an armchair-shaped rock. Take a seat and look in front of you. If you're looking towards the village Hnanice (South-West), note down X = 1. If you're looking towards Havraniky (approx. East), then X = 2.
Still from the seat, take a look to your right - there's a tree (or a bush?) right next to the rock. What is it?

Note down A, which you get by adding up the two auxiliary numbers: A = X+Y
STAGE CZ2 – Dvojjazycna / Zweisprachig / Bilingual

Stojite u kostela Sv. Wolfganga. Byl zalozen r. 1487 na miste starsi kaple ze 13. stoleti. Tato kaple stala u leciveho pramene, ke kteremu se brzy zacaly poradat poute. Dnes je pramen ukryt uvnitr kostela.
Souradnice vas privedou ke krizi, na jehoz celni strane se doctete, ze jej nechal zhotovit Dominik Hader v roce 1869. Na zadni strane podstavce dole najdete pripevnenou dvojjazycnou tabulku – ve kterem roce byl kriz naposledy zrenovovan? Cislice tohoto letopoctu sectete a vysledek si poznamenejte jako cislo B.
You are standing next to St. Wolfgang's church. It was founded in 1487 in place of an older (13th C) chapel. There was a healing spring which became a place of pilgrimage; nowadays, this spring is 'hidden' inside the church.
The coordinates should lead you to a cross erected in 1869 by Dominik Hader – as you can see from the inscription on the front. On the back side of the cross, find a small bilingual table telling you when the cross was renovated (in CZ and GER).
Add up all digits of the year and note the result down as number B.
STAGE CZ3 - Historie / Vergangenheit / History

Zde naleznete maly pomnicek Otmara Chlupa, na nem jsou dve data. Zajima vas jen to druhe – uplne dole, na poslednim radku (vedle znaku Sokola). Ze vsech cisel tohoto data (tedy ze sedmi cislic) provedte postupny ciselny soucet (sectete jednotlive cislice, pokud vam vyjde vicemistne cislo, opet sectete jeho jednotlive cislice, dokud nedojdete k jednomistnemu cislu). Vysledek si poznamenejte jako C.
You will find a small monument with an inscription, saying that " On 22.9.1938, Otmar Chlup, Captain of the 24th Infantry Regiment, fell at this place in defense of the state border...' etc. There is also another date – in the very last line of the table, on both sides of the circular 'Sokol' sign. Make a crossfoot (quersumme) of all seven digits of this date (i.e. add up all the digits; if you get a two-digits number, add up again, until you get just one-digit number). The crossfoot is number C.

STAGE A1 - Kruhy / Kreise / Circles

Das ist nicht nur ein Platz furs Cachen, sondern auch für Wünschelrutengeher. Du findest eine Steinspirale, die sich um einen seltsamen Baum windet. Zähle alle großen Steine der Spirale und nenne das Ergebnis A.
This is not only a stage for geocaching, but also for divining rod exercises. There is a stone-spiral around a strange tree. Count all the stones of this spiral (but NOT the one across the road) and name the result A.
Stage A2 - Obrazky / Bilder / Pictures

Du befindest Dich neben einer Steinsäule. Auf der Säule befinden sich steinerne "Bilder" - Reliefe. Zähle alle diese "Bilder" und trage die genaue Anzahl als "B" ein.
You are standing next to a stone pillar. On the pillar, there are some "pictures", or reliefs. How many? Note the number of "pictures" as B.
Stage A3 - Historie / Vergangenheit / History

Du befindest Dich bei der Kirche die der heiligen Katharina geweiht ist. Im Sommer 2002 wurde das Turmdach durch einen Blitzschlag zerstört. Das war der Startschuss zur Renovierung des gesamten Gebäudes, das seit mindestens 30 Jahren dem Verfall preisgegeben war. Das Kriegerdenkmal hat auch einen neuen Platz bekommen. Zähle alle Einser neben dem Kreuz und nenne das ergebnis C.
Now you are standing next to St. Katharina church. In summer 2002 a lightning destroyed the roof of the tower. This was the initial for the renovating of the church, which was not used for at least 30 years. Also the memorial of war has got a new place. Count all the “one” digits (or digits “1”) beside the cross and name the result C.

Stage B1 - Hranice / Grenze / Border
Long ago, there was no border here. Just a road with milestones.
On the one you see, travellers could read how far it is to Hadersdorf or to Znojmo. There is also a third distance.
Refer this distance to the variables DE.FGH (example: 34.876 would mean that D=3, E=4, ... H=6).
Kdysi tu zadna hranice nebyla. Jen cesta s milniky.
Na tomto miste se pocestni mohli dozvedet, jak daleko je to do Hadersdorfu nebo do Znojma. Na kameni ale najdete jeste treti udaj o vzdalenosti.
Toto cislo si poznamenejte jako DE.FGH (napr. 34.876 by znamenalo, ze D=3, E=4, ... H=6).
Vor langer Zeit war hier keine Grenze. Nur eine Strasse und ein Meilenstein. Reisende interessierte es, wie weit es noch bis Hadersdorf oder Znaim ist. Du findest auch noch eine dritte Entfernungsangabe.
Ordne diese Entfernung den Variablen DE.FGH zu (z.B.: 34.876 : D=3, E=4, ... H=6).
Stage B2 – Dva lide / Zwei Menschen / Two People

Na tomto miste nebudete sami. Cekaji tu na vas dva lide. Odkdy? Letopocet, ktery tu najdete, si poznamenejte jako I.
Du bist nicht alleine. Zwei Menschen warten auf Dich. Seit wann? Nenne das Jahr seit dem sie schon warten I.
Stage B3 - FINAL - Cache

Watch out for the muggles in the wineyards.
On the other side of the border you can find an interesting place called "Hell". More information can be gathered on an info-stand.
Pri hledani i pri manipulaci s keskou davejte pozor, jestli nejste sledovani - treba prave nekdo pracuje ve vinohradu.
Na druhe strane hranice se nachazi zajimava lokalita nazyvana V Pekle. Neco se o ni muzete dozvedet na nedalekem informacnim panelu.
Vorsicht vor muggles in den Weingärten.
Auf der anderen Seite der Grenze gibt es noch einen interessanten Platz, genannt die Hölle. Genaue Infos darüber findest Du auf einer Schautafel. Aber VORSICHT: Um zur Tafel zu gelangen musst Du die Grenze überqueren.
