You can find the cache (HU: GCCSIZ) in a brook-bank, in a hollow that is amongst roots of a tree. Height: 180m on a hill-side; near the Csicsó pilgrims' chapel.
Pilgrims’ Chapel of Csicsó
Csicsó is one of Hungary’s shrines of pilgrims with sacred spring. It’s tradition is a dual one: Hungarians trust in wonder-working might of Holy Trinity, the German origined Hungarians trust in „Mariahilf” devotional picture.
In the Middle Ages hermits saved this sacred spring. According to the popular belief this spring came into existence when pigs rooted out Virgin Mary’s engagement ring. Hungarians’ pilgrimages are observed in high days of Holy Trinity.
Kálmán king decreed to celebrate the Holy Trinity earliest in Europe in the early 1100s, this high day is on first Sunday following Whitsun (Pentecost) Sunday.
The Turkish agressors destroyed Csicsó (near Szakály village)and the surrounding region in 1543. Subsequent to hounding out Turkish invaders, the region filled up with Hungarians from other regions of Hungary and German immigrants.
German immigrants brought the Segítö Mária (GER Mariahilf; ENG Help Us, Mary) devotional picture based on a famous picture by Lucas Cranach the Elder (1514). The original picture is valued highly by Catholic pilgrims in Passau (Austria) pilgrimage church. You can read about these here: (visit link)
The replica picture of immigrants is placed in the chapel that was built in 1745 by Anton Mercy d’Argentau.
The German origined Hungarians’ pilgrimages are observed on Virgin Mary’s name-day (September 12.)
History of Andocs Chapel
There is a very interesting popular legend in connection with Csicsó. You know there is a very famous shrine of Virgin Mary in the vicinity, in Andocs village in Somogy county. According to this legend the Andocs chapel and statue of Virgin Mary is origined from Kalocsa (Bács-Kiskun county). Two angels escaped those from Kalocsa to Andocs, when Turkish soldiers wanted to deface those. The angels relaxed here, in Csicsó in the course of transporting of chapel and statue.
