Geocache Description:

SK: Drive-in skrýša pri zaujímavom kostolíku. EN: Drive-in cache near an interesting small church.

Marek z roku 1798, sv. Jozef z roku 1927 a Panna Mária z roku 1924. Zvonica bola obnovovaná vďaka Ministerstvu kultúry SR - grantový program Obnovme si svoj dom. Archeologická lokalita. V katastri obce Malá Mača eviduje Archeologický ústav Slovenskej akadémie vied v Nitre (zistené predovšetkým zberom) - sídlisko z doby rímskej, neolitické pohrebisko, včasnostredoveké a stredoveké sídlisko.

ENG:According to historic records, the original name of the village is Mached (Mácséd in Hungarian). The name applies even today, eventhough it was broadened in time to Kys Mached (Kis Mácséd) to differentiate the village from the more numerous neighboring village Nagy Mácséd (nowadays Big/Large Mača). According to the word of mouth, the village is very old and was already there even when the neighboring village Dioseg (nowadays Sládkovičovo) had not yet existed .The village had its own church, built during the Arpád reign. The village suffered horribly under the attacks of Turks at the time of Turkish dominion over late Hungary empire. In order to protect themselves, the villagers left their original village around the church and moved to a place where the current village lies. After the downfall of the Turkish danger, the villagers had not returned to original village. The old village was left abondoned, desolated, the buildings damaged and destroyed. This is the explanation for the location of the church which is in the open field away from the current village by around 1000m. I tis the only object preserved from the original village. As a reminder of the Turks, there are a tail of a horse and tinny half moon suspened on the church´s tower cross. The church in the Mala Mača is the main and almost the sole historical relic of the old history of this village and which is told to be there since the Arpád reign in Hungary. It was built in Romanesque style at the end of 12th or the beginning of the 13th century. The church is being systematically restored due to the Ministry of Culture of Slovak Republic- program Renew our home. The bell tower was build at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and is situated in the central part of the village. 4 wooden pillard emerge from the corners of the bell tower, which as the supports bear the pyramid of the roof with the metal cross. The bell tower has 3 bells: St Mark- from 1798, St Joseph- from 1927 and St Mary from 1924. The bell tower was reconstructed due to the Ministry of Culture of Slovak Republic- program Renew our home. Archaeological site. The Archaeological Institute of the Slovak Academy of Science in Nitra records in the lands of the Mala Mača village (found mainly by collection)- a settlement from the Roman age, neolitical burying ground, early medieval and medieval settlement.
