Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden in Stellin Memorial Park in Northland. The easiest access to the park is off upper Orangi Kaupapa Road. Walk (or drive) to the lookout carpark, and take some time to enjoy the view.

The park, with its magnificent views over Wellington, was bequeathed to the city by local businessman James Stellin in 1964 in memory of his son, also called James, an RAF pilot who was killed in action in France in World War II. Stellin is remembered in the French village of St Maclou la Briere for his heroism in steering his doomed aircraft away from the village, saving many lives at the cost of his own. A plaque commemorating his life was finally installed at the top lookout on August 19, 2007. Recent visitors will have seen the flowers placed here at the ceremony on Sunday.

The cache is a 2 litre Sistema plastic container filled with techie treasure. You are invited to replace items with anything technology-related, including Y2K trinkets, or company-branded items, or poetry if you can't lay your hands on the above.

Cache was replaced and restocked on 5 April 2009.
