Geocache Description:

This cache is being placed as part of the Moat Mountain Progressive Challenge Series. Please go to waypoint GC14Z4R for complete rules.

This cache is placed at 2600 feet about 0.2 miles from the summit of South Moat Mountain (2770 feet). The next cache in the series should be near the summit. The trail is still going unrelentingly up so we have raised the terrain rating to a 4 for experienced hikers. There are no drop offs, dangerous areas or anywhere you have to use your hands. It just keep going up! For flatland geocachers this terrain is a 5+ and may not be doable. It is almost 2000 feet uphill to this cache from the trailhead. Allow at least 4 hours for the 5 mile roundtrip hike to this cache. The views are now becoming outstanding in all directions. Once you crest South Moat Mountain you will have a spectacular ridge walk.

The cache is a neck locker like you may wear to the beach for valuables. It has room for small trade items. It is hanging in a medium size spruce tree at eye level next to the trunk.
