This small park hosts a train and a kiosk describing the role
Mr. Fauley and the railroad played in saving lives during the
Cloquet fire.
The cache is dedicated to our dearly departed grandparents,
(of Cloquet) who's geocaching handles might have been Louie-Bird
& Ma, had they been born in another time. Ma had worked for The
"D&NE", which is short for Duluth & Northeastern R.R.
line.
Built as a logging railroad and later served a paper mill in
Cloquet, the D&NE stayed with steam longer than U.S. main line
railroads, and made the last steam runs in 1960.
Also of interest:
Kitty-corner (across Hwy. 33) to this park, is "The world's only
Frank Lloyd Wright designed gas station!"
Thanks to sunrisers & Gone Astray for helping on this
one.
