Madum Kirke

Madum Church

Small church consecrated to St Laurentius with a choir and a nave from the Romanesque period. Late medieval bell tower in the west end and late medieval porch facing north. The vaulted body of the church, which served as a hall in the years 1897-1948, opens into the nave through a Gothic arch. In the years 1948-1949 complete restoration of the church. Gilt oak crucifix on the granite Communion table made by the painter Jais Nielsen in 1949. Stained-glass window (Jesus with small children) facing east in the choir by the same artist. In the south-east corner of the nave the remains of a medieval Communion side table. Furthermore, two figures carved out of a late Gothic altarpiece (Jesus showing his wounds and a saint, presumably St Laurentius). Romanesque font. Pulpit with sounding-board from around the year 1675. Church bell without inscription from the 15th century. New organ.
