Geocache Description:

You will be looking for a full sized ammo can painted to match the surroundings. This cache can be used as a TB Hotel because it is a short distance off the main Highway, Rt. 11, and is traveled by many on their way to visit Volcano N.P. and Hilo.

This cache was placed in memory of my brother Ralph who lived in HOVE, “Hawaiian Ocean View Estates”. It was he, who brought me to Hawaii and helped me purchase my piece of heaven. Manuka S.P. was first cleared and planted by a Forestry Crew in the mid 1930’s. 8 acres were cleared and planted with 48 species of Hawaiian plants and over 130 species of exotic plants. A very nice rest stop with even a composting toilet and running water. The cache is near the beginning of a 2 mile loop trail and if you plan to walk the trail they warn you to bring water and good walking shoes. There is a 400 foot vertical rise in the trail and even a pit crater to view. Heed the warnings on the posted signs. The cache is loaded with the usual swag. The averaged coord’s were showing 24 feet of accuracy with an average of 100 readings. I forgot to mention that this cache will be maintained by my younger brother who is living in HOVE, that is, when I am not here to take care of it.>
