Geocache Description:

A cache hidden in a little known part of Melbourne’s short history.

You will not be able to park on the road beside this cache, but there is still plenty of parking nearby.

The posted coordinates will have you at what remains of Melbourne’s first Tramway Engine buildings, built in 1885. There were two large steam engines hauling two wire cables that ran under the road. One went to Spencer Street Station (now Southern Cross Station), the other to the Hawthorn Bridge (over the Yarra further along Bridge Road from here). The steam engines were replaced by electricity in 1927, and the buildings demolished in 1991 for road widening.

The cache is an eclipse container. It is magnetised, and much easier to retrieve from the back.

Please try to ensure that it is rehidden exactly as you found it. Also please ensure that you BYO writing implement!
