Dairy Free?
Years ago, this Island was less developed - I was stunned while
driving down here at the increase in Dairy conversions (hence the
name).
The interesting thing about this area is that it actually is an
island (count the bridges!). Not many of these around, when you
think about it – particularly one you drive over so easily.
So welcome to one of the lesser known of New Zealands Islands.
At the listed coordinates, you will find there is a pleasant car
park, view and a cabbage tree – my favourite (hence these
coordinates).
There is a hill close to this spot (only a small one). You will
see an obvious manmade feature up there. If you take the path to
this – and bring a pencil and paper.
The first thing to do is take in the view.
Next, find the plaque.
There are 14 words and 2 dates on this. Count the number of
letters in the words and numbers in the dates e.g. the words "the
date" = 3 and 4, "2007" = 4 and so on.
List the 16 numbers generated in order.
Each number has a letter to be assigned to it – assign these
letters to the numbers in this order:
R C H D L Y N M B O S K G P U E
The final cache is at:
South CK (O-Y+1)(N+K-5). (E-S) (P)(H-Y-D)
East (O+S+E-P)(O-D-U) (K-D)(H+E-Y-U).(R+C+K-U)(O+N)(E+H-G-U-L)
It is a 200 ml sistema container, containing two native bird
cards, logbook and pencil. Some stealth may be necessary. The cache
is within 2 km of the view.
It is worth noting that the cache has been replaced since a recent
muggling - it is very close to the original location, still
qualifies for the hint, and I have added a bit to help now. Those
with time can enjoy the walk......
