Mr Emu's eighth cache is a log-only micro, situated in a peaceful
haven between a golf course and the industrial part of Belmont,
just off the road to Barwon Heads.
The Jerringot Wetland is a freshwater marsh consisting of two main
wetland areas, and is linked to the Barwon River floodplain. It is
home to many native plants and a high concentration of native birds
and animals. The internationally significant Latham's Snipe fly
20,000 km to south eastern Australia from Japan, arriving early
spring and staying until late summer.
Dawn and dusk are great times to visit this area. If you have
binoculars and/or insect repellent you might like to bring them
along.
Unless there are other visitors, you will be able to hunt for the
cache mostly out of view of the public. It is hidden within the
confines of the structure - there is no need to go outside and
scare away the wildlife.
The Cache:
The cache is a 60 mL painted plastic container, with a log sheet
and pen. Please record only your team name, date and - optionally -
the time of your visit. No stamps or stickers thanks, and if the
log is nearly full, mention it in your on-line log so that I will
know to replace it. Please make sure you replace the cache exactly
as you found it. I have to add a bit of a spoiler, due to previous
difficulties: push it back *UP* with one finger - as far as it will
go (it's held magnetically, not by friction). It will be completely
out of sight when in the right position.
