Flash Mob event at Reston Town Center, noon to 12:15 pm,
November 10, 2007.
Summary - The Basic Idea:
A Flash Mob gathering of geocachers, only 15 minutes long! You
MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the
event. Please BYOP! (Bring your own pen.)
World Wide Flash Mob event is a coordinated world wide geocaching
event occurring simultaneously (which happens to be noon Eastern
Time) in many different locations. (See bookmark list for the other
events.) Come be part of this historic event! This event is
designed to bring together geocachers and introduce others(newbies)
to the hobby in a unique way. The event will last exactly 15
minutes, not one second longer. The event will begin precisely at
noon Eastern Time. The event will be highly organized and
facilitated by volunteers. Please read the minute-by-minute
schedule below which may continue to be refined until about one
week prior to the event.
Plan: At exactly noon (as determined by the GPS clock) we will
place a bucket of swag at ground zero. One volunteer will handout a
logsheet which also be used as raffle entries. You will sign the
log sheet which will later become the log qualify for attendance
and drop them in designated collection Jar. all participants
geocachers may trade via the bucket at any time. We encourage you
bring nice swag to trade
In case any muggles are curious about the event we will have a
volunteer handing out fliers that explain geocaching. At a
designated time, we will take a group photo. At a designated time,
we will call out the raffle winners. One of the raffle prizes will
be FTF honors. At precisely 12:15 the bucket and the log sheets
will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be evacated
without a trace. Events that happen after 12:15:01 do not count as
part of this event. Although participants are welcome to get
together for lunch after the event, the event will officially end
at 12:15. At lunch, participants may chat, meet, eat and plan for a
day of caching. Only those participants whose names appear on the
logsheets may log the event. Doubtless there will be muggles nearby
who will wonder,"What did I just see?"
Parking MUST be in one of the parking garages. No drive
bys!
A small meal will be provided free of charge..! .. (Hershey's

A $25 Gift certificate for Reston Town Center will be raffled
off as well as 5 unactivated Geocoins!
After the event (12:45pm), head to the Reston Silver Diner
for a more substantial meal! Reservations have been made by The
VanDucks.
Timeline
Before noon: please loiter at least 300 feet from Ground
Zero.
Exactly Noon: Go to the Swag Bucket to exchange TB's and swag. Get
a logsheet (provided) and fill out your geocaching name. Please
bring your own pen. Drop your logsheet into the Log Bucket
During the event, a card table with Geocaching brochures will
be on a cardtable set up in the plaza. This table will remain for
20 minutes after the event for Muggles to come by and pick up a
brochure. They can also be passed out to any muggles that come by
during the event.
12:12pm Photo Opp - Feel free to mingle around ground Zero
until that time and then quickly line up in front of the fountain
to record the moment for posterity.
12:13 pm - The Raffle drawing will pick names from the Log
Sheet Bucket for FTF honors, A gift certificate, and 5 Unactivated
Geocoins
At exactly 12:15pm I would like for everyone to clear the
area immediately. We are planning to have a video camera trained on
the center of the Plaza, and it will be awesome if the plaza
instantly clears right at 12:15pm
