Fjerritslev - Frederikshavn Jernbane
Skræm Station

En cach i serien om vestlige del af den tidligere jernbane der skabt vækst og fremgang!

I 1869 kom jernbanen til Aalborg, dette fik kammerherren på Birkelse Hovedgaard til arbejde for en jernbane til Fjerritslev. I 1874 lykkedes det kammerherren, at samle så megen støtte til, at bygge en jernbane nord for fjorden. At man afholdte et orienterende møde på Hotel Phønix i Aalborg, her nedsatte man en komite der skulle arbejde videre med planerne. I 1897 indviede man den vestlige del af jernbanen mellem Fjerritslev og Frederikshavn via Nørresundby.

Det første sted på strækningen fra Fjerritslev, der kunne minde om en stationsbygning, var Skræm, som tilsyneladende engang havde udgjort noget mere end blot et trinbræt. Skræm havde oprindeligt haft status som billetsalgssted, men reduceredes siden til blot at være et trinbræt.

Lidt om arbejdsforholdene
Stationsforstanderen, lokomotivføreren, togføreren, portøren og flere andre – hver havde de deres ansvarsområde. Det de sagde var lov. Ofte vogtede de deres autoritet med stor nidkærhed. I mange lokal- og bysamfund var stationsforstanderen blandt de mest indflydelsesrige. Eksempelvis var stationsforstander N. P. Nielsen på Fjerritslev - Frederikshavn Jernbanes station i Sæby i to perioder (1921-1929) og (1934-1943) byens borgmester.
I banens yngre dage var der få, der satte spørgsmålstegn ved en jernbanemands autoritet uanset funktionen, Det var i de tider, da hæder og ære betød en del.
Lønningstrinene var nærmest at regne som en kældertrappe talt oppe fra og ned. Jo højere tallet var, jo længere nede stod man på lønskalaen. Stationsforstanderen på Fjerritslev og Aabybro stationer stod eksempelvis på næsthøjeste løntrin (trin seks), mens deres kollega på Brovst station stod på trin syv, og kollegerne på Halvrimmen og Skovsgaard stationer stod på trin otte. Nogle trin længere nede på lønskalaen stod stationsmestrene, som stod på løntrin 12 eller 13.
Løntrinene sluttede ved 17. Lønningsklasse. Lønnen var baseret på en grundløn med alderstillæg, dertil kom et ”alm. pensionsgivende løntillæg”.
Helt udenfor denne lønskala stod ekspeditricerne som laveste i de fungerendes hierarki, disse oppebar et beskedent honorar. Det kunne ligne den rene filantropi at være ekspeditrice ved privatbanerne på de tider, grundlønne ligge i underkanten af 1.000 kr. årligt og med et beskedent tillæg til ”kontorhold”.
For banerne var der store fordele ved at ansætte ekspeditricer. Disse udførte nemlig stort set det samme arbejde, som deres mandlige kolleger af højere rang gjorde.

In 1869 the railway came to Aalborg, this was chamber master at Birke Manor to work for a rail to Fjerritslev. In 1874 they managed chamber master to gather as much support to build a railway north of the fjord. At where held a briefing session at the Hotel Phønix in Aalborg, here they set up a committee which would work on the plans. In 1897 inaugurated the western railway between Fjerritslev and Frederikshavn through Nørresundby.

The first place on the line from Fjerritslev who could recall a station was Skræm Station, which apparently had once represented something more than just a stepping-stone. Skræm had originally had the status of ticket sales, but decreased since just to be a stepping-stone.
 
A little about the working conditions
Station master, driver, train, port ears and others - each had their responsibilities. This they said was law. Often those watching their authority with great zeal. In many local and urban communities were station-master among the most influential. For example, Station master N.P. Nielsen at Fjerritslev - Frederikshavn railway station in Sæby in two periods (1921-1929) and (1934-1943) the city's mayor.
The runway younger days, there were few who questioned a man's railway authority regardless of function, it was during the times when glory and honor meant a lot.
Railing steps were closest to count as a cellar staircase talked up from down. The higher figure was, the longer stood down Monday at the pay scale. Step ended at 17 Railing class. Salaries were based on a salary in retirement allowances, there was a "plain. pensionable income ".

Completely out of this scale was the lowest sales clerk in the function's hierarchy, they received a modest fee. It could resemble the pure philanthropy as sales clerk at the private courses at the times the basic pay is less than 1,000 kroner a year and a modest supplement to "hold office".
The paths were wide benefits of employing girl. They performed for roughly the same work as their male colleagues in the senior ranks did.
