A little mystery cache at an odd traffic circle
When we used to bike from the eastern part of Manatee County out to the beach, this was just a sharp turn in the roadway. With the growth in the area in preparation for more traffic, this turn in the road was turned into a traffic circle with some odd attributes.
Since not only do the unique spots of nature and wonder attract geocaches, but so do the odd. So this spot was asking for one. If someone can explain the meaning of this place, please post it in your logs. Is this circle like crop circles, marking some alien landing pad? Is it the footprint of some crustacean like version of Bigfoot? Is it a mirage? Inquiring minds want to know and since this is a mystery, what better place for a mystery cache!
So when you reach the listed coords, you will find yourself standing in the middle of the circle (if you’re parked in the middle of the circle, you have more problems then just finding this cache). You don’t actually have to go to the coords to figure out the mystery, you can just endlessly circle the circle until you’ve done the counting and the math. You will see around you an inner circle of large palm trees, we’ll call this circle The Circle of Inspiration. Count these large palms and label that BIG.
Outside of The Circle of Inspiration you will find an outer circle of smaller palm trees, we’ll call this circle Bob. Count the smaller palm trees in Bob and label that SMALL. Now put the tree count into the following formula to find the actual cache location.
N27 26.(868 + BIG) W82 38.(191 + SMALL)
When you find the final you will be finding a micro cache. There may be muggles around you, but they will probably be literally a round you so you probably can disguise your actions quite easily. It is a micro so bring your own pen and be sure you hide it back as well and as secure as you found it.
When I hid the cache I had my bike set down and was reading my GPS and a lady stopped and asked if I was okay, thinking I might be having trouble with my bike. I assured her everything was fine but it was nice to know there is a few people out there who care enough to check on people. I tip my hat to these people.
