This cache is located in Laurel Ridge State Park. This 13,625 acre
park stretches along Laurel Mountain from the picturesque
Youghiogheny River At Ohiopyle, Pa to the Conemaugh Gorge near
Johnstown, Pa. This large park spans Cambria, Fayette, Somerset and
Westmoreland Counties. The main feature of the park is the 70 mile
Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, which features shelter and overnight
camping. This cache is located along a well marked trail in the
park just off of Rt. 653. We named the cache because of some of the
cool rock formations along the way. If you use your imagination you
may just see a Sleeping Giant. Park at N 39 degrees 57.281 W 079
degrees 22.124. This lot is located off to the right when heading
up the hill. Follow blue blaze and yellow blaze trails. This is a
two stage cache. The coordinates for the first stage are N 39
degrees 57.279 W 079 degrees 21.868. Here you will find coordinates
for the final stage. Please wear appropriate amounts of orange
during hunting season from fall through March as Laurel Ridge is
open to hunting and trapping. As always, watch your step, have fun
and be careful.
