Johan Julius Christian "Jean" / "Janne" Sibelius (8. joulukuuta
1865 Hämeenlinna - 20. syyskuuta 1957 Ainola, Järvenpää) oli
suomalainen kansallisromanttisen taidemusiikin säveltäjä. Nykyisin
Sibelius on kansainvälisesti tunnetuin ja esitetyin suomalainen
säveltäjä ja Suomen kansallissäveltäjä. Häntä pidetään yhtenä
Skandinavian kolmesta tärkeimmästä säveltäjästä tanskalaisen Carl
Nielsenin ja norjalaisen Edvard Griegin ohella. Sibeliuksen
arvostetuimpia teoksia ovat seitsemän sinfoniaa, sinfoniset runot
sekä viulukonsertto.

Johan Julius Christian "Jean" / "Janne" Sibelius (December 8 1865
Hämeenlinna - September 20 1957 Ainola, Järvenpää) was a Finnish
composer of national romantic classical music. Nowadays Sibelius is
internationally the most famous and performed Finnish composer and
the national composer of Finland. He is one of the three most
important composers in Scandinavia among danish Carl Nielsen and
Norwegian Edvard Grieg. The most recognized work of Sibelius are
the seven symphonies, symphonic poems and a concerto for
violin.
