When?

Sunday 3rd August, 2008

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the poll. Out of the 485 votes, 80% said they could make this weekend. We had hoped to hold the event on the Saturday, but alas our chosen venue (out of the many contenders we looked at) was only available on the Sunday.

Event Times and Programme of events

-12 midday - Doors open...please do not arrive sooner on request of the hotel.

- 1pm - Welcome in cedar suite

- 2pm, 3pm, 4pm- Announcements and prize giving

- 1pm to 3pm - Childrens activities... Magician, Circus skills, Balloon modeling, Face painting, Art and crafts

The event will officially close with an annoucement in the Cedar Suite at 5pm

Where?

The Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Harrogate is a Spa town, 10 minutes drive from the A1(M), and a reasonable drive from all areas of the UK, whether you are travelling from John O Groats, or Lands End.
The Hotel itself is a 4-Star venue. The building dates back to 1671, and, as Harrogate is a popular Conference destination, it has enough space for 1000 visitors. And what's more, it's all ours for the day!

The biggest draw for this venue for us, is it's location. It is practically in the town centre, but opens out onto "The Stray" - a 200 acre parkland, giving scope for much outdoor fun (weather permitting).

The post code for all you Sat Nav users is HG1 5AH

Cost?

As with all Geocaching Events, there will be no charge for attending the day event. But if you wish to help the committee meet the costs of hiring the venue; we are selling a Mega Event Geocoin, details can be found on our Mega Event Website (link above).

Dogs

As a number of people have enquired, the hotel as normal does not take dogs apart from Registered Assistance Dogs, but if there are special arrangements, please contact them direct.
However we will be providing a marquee on the front lawns as part of the event, so dogs are more than welcome.
Please also note the hotel opens out onto 200 acres of parkland.... although right in the centre of Harrogate this is very much a "rural" hotel

Other information

There will laid on childrens entertainment in the form of :- a magician, circus skills (hands on) activities, face painting, Balloon modeling, art and crafts

Obviously there is plenty of caches to go out and find within walking distance

There will be various competitions and things to do during the day whilst at the event

There will be announcements, prizes etc etc on the hours of 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and finally 5pm
