The small town is situated next to the XVIIIth district of Budapest (called Pestszentimre-Pestszentlorinc) and can be approached by the bus 94 on the Nagykorösi út. The village was first mentioned in a folio of 1323. During the turkish occupation it was depopulated and was mentioned as a lowland plain for a long period. In the XVIIIth century the Koháry family owned it as a plain. Its development started in the second half of XIXth century, when it became the property of the famous Károlyi family. The small population multiplied. At the end of the century the Jálics family moved here and introduced wine- growing on sand. Nowadays Gyál is a garden city by the boundaries of Budapest, and it become a town officially in 1997.
