Fort Hamilton Traditional Geocache
Cahow: This is no longer accessible. I lost the original hiding place when they removed some vines.

Hardly anyone visits this fort, which is just a short walk from downtown. There are great views, bathrooms, and even a water cooler.
This cache is too small for any token larger than a lima bean. Reception is poor in the moat, so I'll give you coordinates to the top and walk you down to it.
Descend the long staircase, then go up a few stairs. Turn left in the long hallway. Turn left to exit the underground passage. Turn right in the moat. Sit on the first bench you come to. You should be facing the outer wall. Do you see a vine climbing the wall all the way to the top? It's almost in front of you, a little to the right. Investigate near the base of the wall under that vine. Be careful not to harm any plants. After you find the cache, pick up a carelessly discarded can or bottle. You'll easily find a litter basket in the moat.
If the gate at the top is locked, there is a second way down to the moat. But you'll have to find where the directions bring you into the moat and retrace from there.
