Makes his offseason home in Caguas, Puerto Rico with wife Nilda, daughter Camila and stepson Jeriel...is the younger brother of Joey Cora, who played in the Majors for 11 seasons from 1987-98 and is now the third base coach for the Chicago White Sox...batted .294 over three seasons at the University of Miami from 1994-96...named to the College World Series all-tournament team in both 1995 and 1996...batted .471 (8-for-17) in four games in the 1996 CWS, including a 3-for-5, 3-RBI effort in a 9-8 title game loss to Louisiana State University...was rated by Baseball America as the best collegiate defensive player going into the 1996 draft...was originally drafted by Minnesota in the 12th round of the 1993 First-Year Player Draft but opted to attend Miami...Is an active member of the Boston Action Team, a national youth volunteer initiative administered by the Major League Baseball Players Trust and Volunteers of America that is actively recruiting the next generation of volunteers...in 2006, spoke to students at the Boston Arts Academy Luncheon, met with Jimmy Fund patients as part of their road trip to Atlanta, signed autographs and posed for photos with kids as part of the MLB Players Trust "Buses for Baseball" program, spoke to the Umass Lowell "Politics and Sports" class, and made an appearance at a fundraiser benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chelsea, Mass.
