This cache is designed to take you to the three cemeteries maintained by the Town of Westborough, MA. The total circuit is about a mile; you can park at the initial coordinates and complete the whole journey in less than one hour.
Please honor these places and those who are at rest here.
There are four coordinates involved in this cache. Each of the monuments / signs in the three cemeteries has a date on it. You will use these dates to find the next coordinates, and then to find the final cache. For each of these dates do NOT use the century – so if a date were “2008”, then eliminate the century and get the number “08”. This “08” is what we’ll now be calling “the date”. You will find a calculator to be very useful unless you enjoy multiplying by hand. Nothing here is “higher math”, but you do need to be careful. There are no tricks or mysteries involved.
Calculation of Waypoint 2 from the starting point:
N 42 15.861 use the 861. So 861 + (0.96 * Date_on_Memorial#1 ) gives N 42 15.AAA
W 71 36.314 use the 314. So 314 + (4.42 * Date_on_Memorial#1 ) gives W 71 36.BBB
Calculation of Waypoint 3 from waypoint 2:
N 42 15.AAA use the AAA. So AAA + (16.7 * Date_on_Memorial#2 ) gives N 42 1x.CCC
W 71 36.BBB use the BBB. So BBB + (10.7 * Date_on_Memorial#2 ) gives W 71 36.DDD
Calculation of Cache Location from the starting point:
(Sum_Of_Three_Dates) = Date_on_Memorial#1 + Date_on_Memorial#2 + Date_on_Memorial#3
N 42 15.861 use the 861. So 861 + ( 0.011 * (Sum_Of_Three_Dates) ) gives N42 15.EEE
W 71 36.314 use the 314. So 314 - (0.28 * (Sum_Of_Three_Dates) ) gives W71 36.FFF
