Geocache Description:

–noun
1. past year(s)
2. the recent years; the time that has elapsed

–adverb
3. during time not long past

The Yesteryear series of caches are not meant to be difficult, but are meant to tell a story about a landmark or event of when I was a kid growing up in Ottawa.
The items described may or may not be in existence anymore. They are simply mentioned as my own personal "walk down memory lane."
Some of you may remember them - some of you may not.
I hope you enjoy them...

YESTERYEAR - The Meteor

Ahh yes... The Meteor in Mud Lake. Obviously not a real meteor, but if you asked anyone who grew up in the Britannia area about "The Meteor", they would all know what and where it was...

Many a good bush-party, and many a good bonfire were had at this location when SuperDave was but a pup.
My friends and I would climb the huge rock and just soak up the sun for hours at a time out here.
This is also one of several places that I got my "teenage-beer-drinking-phase" out of my system before I was legally of age to drink beer.

Man, oh man... Good times...
Feel free to post pictures of you and your geo-party in front of The Meteor.

The trailhead begins at N45 22.129, W75 47.498.
A small amount of free roadside parking can be found on Lincoln Heights Road at N45 22.097, W75 47.417.
Or, if you're visiting on a weekend, you can park right at Regina Public School at N45 21.962, W75 47.444.
However, the best way to get there is by bicycle (in the summer) down the bike path - which is now called the "Capital Trail".

Even though there is plenty of evidence showing otherwise, apparently you are not allowed to have dogs or bicycles on the trail that surrounds Mud Lake.

The container you will be looking for is the typical micro-in-a-tree type of container. There’s no room for trading items, so I hope that's OK with everyone...
Please try to rehide the container as best as you can afterwards.

Have fun and be safe, but please respect the environment.
Thanks.

I hope you enjoy my “Yesteryear” walk-down-memory-lane caches.
