Legend says when our pets die, they go to the Rainbow
Bridge to wait for us.
This cache is a dedication cache for my dog Zoe, who passed away
suddenly at 12 years of age about a year ago in November 2006, and
to all other beloved pets who have passed away. When you visit this
cache, please take a few moments to remember your departed
companions. Think of the good times and the happiness they brought
to you. Wish your companions peace on their journey to the Rainbow
Bridge.
I hiked in this park many times with Zoe. Whenever Zoe noticed
that I was taking out her hiking pack, she was ecstatic, knowing
that I was taking her hiking. On the trails, Zoe hopped on the top
of every rock, like a circus dog, and checked in every ground
squirrel hole. Being a shy and one person dog, Zoe never wandered
far away from me, for fear of losing me. In addition to hiking, Zoe
loved playing catch with a ball forever, rolling on her back to get
her belly scratched, and sleeping with her head right next to the
furnace.
When logging the cache, if you wish, please include a story,
nice note, and/or picture about your departed companion(s).
Park hours are from 8:00am to sunset. Dogs on leash and bicycles
are allowed on the trail. Nearest parking is available at the
Pueblo group picnic area ($6 parking fee) or from the free parking
area at the end of Bernal Road.
The cache is in a 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" x 7" camo taped container and
is located slightly off the trail. Cache contents contain an
unactivated 2006 Compass Rose FTF geocoin for FTF, dog related
items (you do not need to keep with the theme), logbook, cache
note, and pens.
