Geocache Description:

In 1886 Captain Stillman H.Knowles a San Franciscan vigalante and a succesful miner from Baker Oregon, traveled up dusty Bear Creek road to view a spot among the trees he subsequently purchased for a mountain retreat.
Having millions to spend, he built a comfortable 15 room house on 49 acres. He cleared the ponds in his front yard and put in ten trout lakes he dreamed of using for a trout fish farm, but that never flourished.
In July of 1894, James L. Flood, son of the faboulus silver king, James Claire Flood, bought the property and immediately set about enlarging the estate and buying up the neighboring property. He eventually acquired 800 acres.
Flood built a sumptuous estate which he called "Alma Dale".It had a 40 room villa with broad verandas and was decorated with the most luxurious fittings that money cold by.
This cache is a distance away from where the estates were but still on the property.
The cache is a tupperware container with lots of swag. Come prepared to trade.
The cache is located in Bear Creek Redwoods Open Space. A permit is needed to enter the park. The permit can easily be obtained by calling the Open Space Headquarters during regular businees hours. (1-650-691-1200) Ask for Leslie.
