This was placed as a snowshoe cache, but can be done year around.
Excellent winter area off a good plowed road with little avalanche
danger. Grab the kids and go play in the snow. Cache is located at
1,300 ft. and up to a 3 mile r/t hike/snowshoe. You are looking for
a 50 cal ammo can. No parking pass required. Be careful near the
cache location the snow is deep with a steep dropoff nearby to the
river.
Take US 2 to the Money Creek turn off near Skykomish. Go about 1
mile to a right hand turn on the Miller River Rd. Good gravel road
is plowed about 3 miles to a large turn around and parking area.
This area is right on the edge of the heavy snow zone, so some
years you may be able to drive to this cache late into the winter.
This year there is about 5-6 ft. of snow. Just prior to the cache
you'll pass the closed road that leads up the W. Frk Miller River
and some very wild historic country. Don't forget to grab my Mohawk
Falls cache nearby.
When the snow melts this will be almost a drive by. Follow the
road to the end and take a hike to Lake Dorothy and many miles of
alpine wandering.
