Geocache Description:

This cache is in Bear Creek Redwoods Open Space.
To enter this park you need and permit. You can get an easily obtainable permit by calling the Open Space headquarter during normal business hours at (650) 691-1200.

Do you know how lucky we are to have this open space area to hike through and enjoy it's beauty, instead of driving by on Hwy 17 or up Bear Creek road and looking over and seeing an 18 hole golf course and clubhouse?
Very Lucky!
This whole area was almost bought and turned into the Los Gatos Country Club. Due to failed payments by partners and permits denied because of enviromental questions, the Mid-Pen Open Space was able to step in and save this wonderful area of scenic views, lots of creeks, old growth Redwoods, open meadows and lots of history.
With 1345 acres and 10 miles of trails, there are plenty of areas for exploring to be done in this park.
The cache is placed near the old abandoned Alma College buildings. It is close to and old garage which has an "Hazardous Area" sign on it. The garage itself is harzardous but the cache is NOT in the garage. There's no need to even touch the garage to obtain the cache.
Due to the tree cover close to the cache, I got many different readings. Hopefully I narrowed it down to the closest ones. If you think you have a better one please log it and I'll make adjustments if need be.
