Geocache Description:

I know how frustrating it is to be geocaching abroad and not be able to read the language of the cache description. Therefore this one is all in English.

The coordinates above do not describe the stash-site – would certainly have been nice if they did….!

Though I’m a mere novice compared to the veterans in this game, it is my experience that most of the mental challenges on this site favor the male way of thinking. All the math’s and the coding requires extensive left hemisphere activity, and that – let’s be honest – does not always cohere with the genetics of the female brain. To remedy this lack of feminine presence in geocaching society (and to provoke a little), I decided to create this cache as a tribute to great women in history and present time.

Having solved the questions, the solution is easily found. Calculations are, as a matter of principle, kept at a minimum.

In the following you will meet women from different areas who have distinguished themselves in one way or another. We are talking about performing arts, science, politics, literature, sports, etc. They are all internationally known.

Can’t say that I’m a woman of few words, so here goes…..

A:
She was born in Italy and suffered most of her life from a condition that today is known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, but this did not prevent her from following her true calling. Her pioneering work at the frontier lead to a drastic drop in death rates among soldiers, and was later an inspiration to all in her profession throughout the world. She died in 1910 but lived to experience being the first woman to be awarded a very distinguished Order.

Number of letters in this woman’s last name = A

B:
She died in 1962 in Denmark after having left her soul on another continent some 30 years earlier. In her relative long life she wrote an abundance of essays, of which many have been translated from Danish into a number of foreign languages.
She had many names and some of them she used as pseudonyms in the early days of her authorship. One of them was Pierre.
The story and the love of her life is well known to the world, mainly due to an epic movie starring some of the best actors of all times.

Year of birth = B

C:
She had part of her education i England and Switzerland and was in 1942-43 imprisoned for “anti-british activities”. She grew up in an intensely political atmosphere and acquired a formidable international reputation as a "statesman".
Her ways of leading her country had in the eyes of the world, and of her subjects, a strong tendency towards authoritarianism, and she ended her days by being shot by one of her own employees.

Date (of the month) of death = C

D:
She was born in Frankfurt am Main and she won the prize as best woman in her field in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
When she and her team played in the World Series for the first time, they were offered a tea serving set as payment for their appearance! Compare that to the millions their male parallels get paid for their efforts!
Recently she received a spectacular offer:
She could have been the first woman to play in a professional men's league, but she declined the offer.

Height in cm = D

E:
Her discography is impressive. She made her first recordings at the age of 18 and new editions of songs she recorded in the past are still being released today, even though she died I 1959.
She began her turbulent life in Baltimore as a daughter of a teenaged mother. Her father, a not much older jazz guitarist, didn’t stay around long enough for her to get to know him.
After being raped at the age of ten she was sentenced to Catholic reform school until reaching adulthood, but was helped out of there by a family friend.
Her singing career started at a speakeasy in New York, and later she got to sing with all the nobilities in the jazz world.

Number of movie appearances = E

F:
She was born in exile and predestined to be the queen of a proud but suppressed people. Nine month old she was crowned, and a political marriage was planned between her and the son of her country’s suppressor. Her mother and the royal court decided against it though, and she married – at the age of 16 – a young crown prince from a friendly neighboring country, whom she fortunately loved deeply.
Their happiness was short as he died a few years later, and she came to spent most of her remaining life imprisoned. Finally the only thing between her and the executioner was the strength of a code language. Unfortunately the famous code was deciphered and the poor woman was beheaded.

Number of marriages = F

G:
She was the daughter of poor parents – gypsy blood ran in her veins. She was a strong, unorthodox and self-willed woman who went her own ways in all matters of life. Her performance on the white screen was epoch-making and her intuitive sense of expressing the passions of love and tragedy in a way that left her audience breath- and speechless, was unique.
She managed, which was uncommon for the era, throughout her life to guard the privacy of her personal life. As an example of this she never disclosed the name of the father of her daughter Jesta.
She died at the age of 90, just a few years after her third marriage with a man she called “the only great and first love of her life”

Total number of letters in her original name = G

H:
All of her sisters killed their husbands on their wedding night; their father, the king, had told them to do so. But this one didn’t and eventually she and her husband came to rule the kingdom after her father’s death. Her sisters, who ended up in Hades, were compelled everlastingly to pour water into a vessel full of holes.
A well known saying, describing womens never ending tasks, origins from this myth. Se spoiler picture
of one of these unfortunate sisters below.

Number of sisters this woman had = H
