Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site

* "extremly easy-to-find" cache for trading TB/GC close to DUS-terminal.
* Ein Großraum-Cache als TB-Hotel zum schnellen Tauschen, nachtfähig und mit Regenschirm.

Der Cache befindet sich nicht auf dem Flughafengelände, sondern im benachbarten Kittelbach-Park.

• Auf Flughäfen gibt es gewöhnlich mehr Personenkontrollen als im Wald. Daher bitte keine Gerätschaften mitführen, die bei verdachtsunabhängigen Kontrollen zu erhöhtem Erklärungsbedarf führen (Buschmesser, Klettergurt)
• Sofern der Cache in der Dunkelheit besucht wird, bitte unbedingt vermeiden, auf dem Flughafengelände mit Taschenlampen, Laserpointern etc. in der Luft herumzufuchteln.
• Auf dem Weg zum Cache verhaltet euch bitte nicht "auffällig unauffällig"; GPS-Geräte müssen weder in Hemdärmeln noch Hosentaschen versteckt werden.
• Nutzt als Abkürzung nicht die KFZ-Parkfläche "P4", auch wenn es sich noch so anbietet. Das Gelände wird videoüberwacht. Außerdem gibt es da rückwärtig einen Zaun von ca. 2m Höhe.

Der Cache

Zeitbedarf

Gepäckaufbewahrung: Wenn Ihr Eure Koffer/Taschen nicht anderweitig unterbringen könnt, dann gibt es im Erdgeschoss von Parkhaus P3 eine von 4-24h geöffnete Aufbewahrung, die pro Gepäckstück und Tag ca 2,5 Euro verlangt.

Entfernungsangaben (einfacher Weg)

• S-Bahn-Station "Flughafen-Terminal" S7: 1050m
• Ausgang Terminal: 750m
• Skytrain Haltepunkt P4/P5: 660m
• DB-Fernbahnhof & S1: Skytrain nutzen! (2,6km)
• Parkplatz P4 (3 Euro pro angefangene Stunde): 450m
• Karthäuserstraße / Schützenfestwiese (kostenlos parken): 315m

Wegbeschreibungen

• Ab Terminal und S-Bahn:
  Folgt der Beschilderung "P4/P5/P6". Präziser: Ihr visiert die Freifläche P5 und die davorliegende Ampelkreuzung "Kieshecker/Kalkumer" an über die auch der Skytrain (Hänge-Hochbahn) quert. (N51°16.760 E6°46.250)
  Ab dort der Beschilderung "Gedenkstätte Kartäuserkloster" folgen. Auf dem Weg bleiben bis zur Laterne "18" bei N51°16.722 E6°46.550
• Vom Fernbahnhof aus
  Nehmt den Skytrain bis zum Haltepunkt P4/P5/P6. Der ist zwar kostenpflichtig (VRR/DB/Flugticket sind jedoch gültig), spart Euch aber 2,5km echt fiesen Asphalttretens im Gewerbegebietsdschungel.
  Versucht nicht nach Pfeilnavigation zu laufen, dann läuft Ihr ca. 4km! Selbst mit einer Topo sollte man die Wanderroute sorgfältig planen. Wer also wirklich laufen will, der lässt das GPS erstmal aus und hält sich besser an die Ausschilderung "Terminals" und später an "P4/P5/P6". Für den Rückweg solltet Ihr ein Tracklog haben.
  
• vom Skytrain und von P4/5 aus
  Das Parkhaus ebenerdig zur Straße verlassen (nicht über den Parkplatz abkürzen! Das wäre ein Umweg, sofern Ihr nicht über höhere Zäune klettern wollt), in Richtung Südwesten unter dem Skytrain zur Ampel Ecke "Kieshecker/Kalkumer" (N51°16.760 E006°46.250), dort der Beschilderung "Gedenkstätte Kartäuserkloster" folgen. Auf dem Weg bleiben bis zur Laterne "18" (N51°16.722 E6°46.550)
• A44 - Kostenpflichtiger DriveIn
  Straßennavigation "Düsseldorf, Kieshecker Weg 258, Ecke Kalkumer Straße". Folgt jedoch zunächst auf der Autobahn (A44) der Beschilderung "Flughafen". In der Autobahnausfahrt selbst immer rechts halten ("Abflug" und "Langzeitparken P4"), an der "Nokia-Säule" rechts abfahren. An der Ampel (Kieshecker/Kalkumer) (N51°16.760 E006°46.250) geradeaus(!) und den nächsten öffentlich nutzbaren(!) Parkplatz P4 rechts (N51°16.807 E6°46.434) nehmen. Auf dem Parkplatz rechts halten und soweit wie möglich "zurück zur Ampel".
  Zu Fuß dann die abgepollerte Lufthansa-Parkfläche überqueren und über den Seitenausgang (N51°16.754 E6° 46.333) verlassen. Auf dem gepflasterten Weg in der Parkanlage links halten bis zur Laterne "18" (N51°16.722 E6°46.550).
• A52 - kostenlos DriveIn-Parken: Vor der Festwiese Karthäuserstraße (Schützenplatz)
  Autobahn A52 Abfahrt Düsseldorf-Unterrath (Ausschilderung "ISS-Dome"), in der Abfahrt jedoch andere Richtung: Hamborner Straße, Parsevalstraße, Beedstraße, Kartäusertraße bis Ende, dort mit Parkscheibe 2h kostenlos parken (N51°16.681 E6°46.725)
  Auf dem gepflasterten Weg entlang des rauschenden Kittelbachs unter der A44 unterdurch, auf dem Weg bleiben bis zur Laterne "18" (N51°16.722 E6°46.550)

Das Cacheversteck

gegen Wasserschaden
beim Loggen

• Der Cache war mal 100m näher am Terminal, an einem Hügel mit Aussicht und schöner Blumenwiese. Er wurde dort jedoch nach knapp einem Jahr gemuggelt. Daher jetzt der Umzug in die ärmende Autobahnrandbepflanzung wo sich hoffentlich kein Muggel freiwillig herumtreibt. Schaut in die Gallery, wie schön es mal war ;-(
• Im Winter seid Ihr vom Parkplatz aus zu sehen, spätestens wenn Ihr die Taschenlampen anschaltet. Im Team also bitte auf "Rabaz" verzichten.
• Bitte Deckel auf dem Versteck vorsichtig öffnen!
• Wenn Ihr vor dem Cacheversteck steht, bergauf an der hinteren Kante fassen und nach vorn hochklappen. (Anschlag ist vorn!)
• Deckel beim Öffnen nicht ganz überschlagen! und Deckel nur vorsichtig greifen! Die Tarnung ist mit Draht befestigt, falls davon mal einzelne (gerissene) Drähte hochstehen sollten: Tut Euch nicht weh!
• Bei Regen nutzen bitte auch die Nicht-Warmduscher den im Cache angeketteten Regenschirm damit das Logbuch und der Inhalt trocken bleiben.
• Auf dem Infozettel unter dem Deckel steht nur drauf was Ihr aus der FAQ von opencaching.de schon kennt. Das ist für die Muggel! Ebenso gibt es hier keine Überwachungskameras, auch wenn ein Logo vielleicht anderes vermuten lässt. Das dient alles nur der Sicherheit der Hotelgäste. *auf's_Holz_klopf*
• Bitte nach dem Loggen wieder abtarnen!
• Wenn es Probleme mit dem Cache geben sollte, bitte kurzfristig Nachricht an den Cacheowner!

Hotel-Hausordnung

• Coins/TBs mit Info zu Mission/Reiseziel versehen! Bitte Anhänger/Zettel/Aufkleber anbringen, um Irrfahrten zu vermeiden!
• Das Hotel kann mehrfach besucht werden. Bei Erstbesuch als Find loggen, ab dann als Note. Wer seinen Fund am ersten Versteck gelogt hat, darf bei einem Wiederbesuch der neuen Location einen zweiten Fund loggen.
• Es muss nicht "1:1" getauscht werden. Ihr dürft also auch eine ganze Handvoll TBs mitnehmen, sofern Ihr diesen wirklich weiterhelfen könnt auf deren Mission.
• Es sollten immer mindestens 2 TBs im Hotel verbleiben.
• Bitte nicht mehr als 10-12 Trackebels ins Hotel! Wir wollen keinen Spielbanküberall provozieren.
• Bitte möglichst nur Travelbugs und Geocoins ablegen. Wer dennoch "normal" traden will: bitte nur Außergewöhnliches, was auch eines TB-Tags würdig wäre.

• Shuttledienst nach Frankfurt-RheinMain: Der Owner besucht mindestens monatlich FRA StopOver GC17134 und kann dabei Trackables mitnehmen. Bitte entsprechend mit Beschriftung am Item selbst versehen und auch im Onlinelog vermerken.

• Bitte verlinkt diesen Cache nicht via Facebook ("like it"-Button). Muggle sind hier nicht willkommen. Der Cache müsste dann zukünftig als PMO gelistet werden.
• Fotos sind keine Logbedingung, der Owner freut sich aber trotzdem drüber, andere Cacher dort zu sehen.
• Bitte erwähnt in den Logs, wie lange Ihr von wo aus hin&retour gebraucht habt. Oder schreibt eine Mail wenn Ihr Verbesserungsvorschläge zu den Anmarschplänen habt.

English Version

• security-checks are more likely at airports than in the forest. do not bring along any "high-terrain" caching equipment that may look suspicious to authorities! (no big knives, no professional ropes)
• if you are doing this cache during nighttimes: Do not point with lamps or laserpointers at airport-buildings or in the sky.
• on the way to the cache do not try to behave explicitly hideous. it's not necessary to hide your GPSR in jacket sleeves or trousers.
• Do not use the carpark-area "P4" as a shortcut, it's not! the area is under video surveillance. in plus it will need to climb a fence of 2 meters.

• from terminal building and S-Bahn:
  follow the signs to "Parking P4/P5/P6". To be more precise: go for the longterm open air car park P5 and the streetcorner with traffic lights in front of it "Kieshecker/Kalkumer". above it there is the Skytrain (hanging monorail cabins) (N51°16.760 E6°46.250)
  follow the brown sign "Gedenkstätte Kartäuserkloster". stay on the paved pedestrian road until laterne "18" (N51°16.722 E6°46.550).
• from ICE railway station
  take the skytrain to the stop P4/P5/P6. it's costly but saves a log of walk of 2,5km (VRR/metro/bus/train/flighttickets are valid as well)
  if you really want to go by feet: use the map, plan your trip. do not try just to go by arrow-navigation. you may end up with 4km of walk instead of 2,5. Look for signs "parking P4/P5/P6". take a tracklog for the way back.
  
• from skytrain and from P4/5
  leave the parking on ground level. (Do not try to shortcut via the parking-field! it's a detour!), take the direction southwest to the trafficlights at crossing "Kieshecker/Kalkumer" (N51°16.760 E006°46.250), follow the brown sign "Gedenkstätte Kartäuserkloster". Stay on the paved pedestrian road to the laterne "18" (N51°16.722 E6°46.550).
• motorway A44 - costly drive in
  put your metro navigation to "Düsseldorf" "Kieshecker Weg 258" and/or crossing "Kalkumer Straße". On the road follow the indicated airport-symbols along the streets to the exit of A44. in the exit of the motorway stay on the right lane to "Langzeitparken P4". at the traffic lights (corner of Kieshecker/Kalkumer) (N51°16.760 E006°46.250) go straight on and take the next public parking to the right: P4 at N51°16.807 E6°46.434. on the parking keep to the right and try to go back to the traffic-lights as far as possible.
  leave the parking by feet via the side-exit at N51°16.754 E6°46.333. Stay on the paved pedestrian road to the laterne "18" (N51°16.722 E6°46.550).
• motorway A52 - free drive in: at fairground of shooting club in the Karthäuserstreet
  motorway A52, exit Düsseldorf-Unterrath, (driving directions to "ISS-Dome"), in the exit take the opposite direction of ISS-Dome: Hamborner Straße, Parsevalstraße, Beedstraße, Kartäusertraße till the very end, freeparking of 2h with a parking disc (N51°16.681 E6°46.725)
  Follow the paved pedestrian road along the rushing creek "Kittelbach" to underpass the motorway-bridges. stay on the road until laterne "18" (N51°16.722 E6°46.550).

the cache hide

• the cache is located about 40 meters away from the public promenade, just behind a little hill, inside a grove of very young trees and bushes.
• the site is secure against muggel's view from the promenade, but during winter times you will be visible from the car park P4. Please be aware when using flashlights.
• The cache has been moved about 100m away after been muggled. the former location was a little open hill with grass, flowers and beautiful sight. this may have attracted some wrong people. So for now it's near the noise of the motorway, behind some dump thrown out of bypassing car windows. and hopefully secure against mugglers.
• Be careful when opening the cover of the hiding place. The Cover flips towards you.
• grab the cover carefully. the camouflage is fixed by some wire-mesh fence. This may become rusty within months/years. If wires break they might be sharp and pointy. do not hurt yourself.
• there are no cameras around, the logo is just to confuse muggel. Do not take the info-papers from the back of the cover, it's just a geocaching-faq for muggel.
• if it's raining, please use the included(!) umbrella to protect the hotel from humidity
• after logging please restore the camouflage.
• In case of any problems, do not hesitate to contact the cache owner by gc-mail.

rules for logging

• Coins/TBs shall be attached to a tag stating it's mission/destination. Please attach tags/stickers to avoid odysseys.
• You may visit this cache as often as you want, first time please log as "found", revisits as "note". If you found this cache at the first hide and find it at the moved location, you may log a secound "found" for the new hide.
• it's allowed to grab a full handfull of TBs/TCs at once, even without leaving others, if you can really help to fulfill their missions!
• leave at least 2 items (TB/TCs) in the cache, but not more than 10.
• please do not put ordinary (non-TB/TC) trades. If you really insist in doing so, prefer extraordinary items which can be regarded as worthy to become a TB.

• shuttle to Frankfurt RheinMain: the cache owner visits FRA StopOver GC17134 on at least monthly basis and will give a lift to trackables. please put an according sticker on the item plus note on online-log.
