Geocache Description:

Short walk up a dirt track to the cache. Friarton air shaft is to your right, but it is in a ploughed field, otherwise the cache would have been placed closer.

Friarton railway tunnel was constructed by the Scottish Central Railway Company and completed in 1848. The tunnel is 1.1km in length and is provided with circular brick-built air-shafts. It also gets called Moncrieff tunnel, but the entrance starts in Friarton.

Please take care with youngsters when crossing the busy Edinburgh road.

No need to climb any fences.
