A circular dog-friendly walk of under 3 miles, taking in a memorial to a familiar British institution.
The walk can be done entirely on footpaths - there is no need to enter or cross farmland. The footpaths can be very muddy though, so boots or wellies are advisable. The cache has been placed with the permission of The National Trust.

Street Parking: N 51° 23.728 E 0° 04.314 (Grid co-ordinates TQ 442683)
(There’s a sign here of which Scrooge would approve.)
From Little Thrift take the public footpath North towards Chislehurst.

Waypoint One: N 51° 23.863 E 0° 04.340
How many leaves on the twig? Answer = A
How many letter in the word directly underneath the twig? Answer = B

Waypoint Two: N 51° 23.(A+3)38 E 0° 04.(B-2)53
How many hectares does the Petts Wood and Hawkswood Estate cover? Answer = CDE

Waypoint Three: N 51° 23.(A+C+D)(B-C)2 E 0° 04.(C+E)A0
When was the woodland saved? Answer = 19FG

Waypoint Four: N 51° 24.C(F+G)F E 0° 04.B(E+F)(A+C)
What happened in 1925? Number of letters in answer = H, J and K
Who was its untiring advocate? Number of letters in answer = L and M

Optional bonus question: This is not essential for finding the cache and there is no reward for a correct answer - only the satisfaction of getting it right. Email us (don’t post it in your log) with the answer to the following question.
What is the highly unusual (though appropriate) feature of this fairly common object?

Waypoint Five: N 51° 24.CH(L-C) E 0° 04.(A+J)BM
Nothing to find here, but this will put you on the right path.
On the way to waypoint six, there’s a point where ‘straight ahead’ would mean leaving the path and joining a bridleway. Either choice will bring you to the same place, but staying on the path may be marginally less muddy.

Waypoint Six: N 51° 24.F(F+K)(L-M) E 0° 04.FHJ
Again nothing to find, but you will be on the right path.

Cache: N 51° 24.CHK E 0° 03.B(L-J)F

From the cache return up the path 25 paces and turn left down to the bridge. At the far side of the bridge turn left and follow the path, with one right-then-left kink back to Waypoint One.

We went to Petts Wood in the week and walked 8 miles or so looking for various caches and by the time we were near this one, we were running out of daylight. The paths were very muddy and we hurriedly made our way back to the car which was the other side of the railway lines near Crest View Drive. The sunset (bright pink and red) made up for not getting the cache. Today we went back to the same tree where we thought it was and - bingo! Nicely hidden but oh so easy to find. A nice change from some that have taken us ages. Took nothing, other than 2 photos, and Left Nothing. TFTC.

We gave up on this one last year, we were tired after walking from Jubilee Park. This year we were fresh and started from the suggested parking point. A very enjoyable leisurerly morning stroll for Co-Pilot, myself and my sister who lives in the area. Thanks for your effort in setting up. TNLN. sl.

Found it 2nd time of asking. A very pleasant walk in a place I never knew existed, and only 1/2 mile from home. Left a plaster for those hunting accidents. Took nothing
