Cato WI, August 28, 1938: Ward McKenzie, an accomplished inventor,
died today at 2:38PM in a bizzarre car wreck in an unlikely section
of Cato Falls County Park.
Friends say he was testing out a new-fangled navigation device
at the time of his death. "Ward was talking about being able to
pinpoint where he was anywhere on the earth, within a few feet,
usin' some gadget he invented called an MPS, Magnetic Positioning
System," Remarked his long-time neighbor Alex Kowalomanazinski. "He
said he had set up a series of 24 extremely powerful
electro-magnets around the earth on huge towers, and had invented a
crazy sort of compass that could detect several of them at one
time, and through a series of gears and levers, it could plot on a
world map where he was, accurate to a few feet! Guess it didn't
work too well."
Alex's wife, Margaret, added, "To prove his point, he painted
the windows on his car black, so he couldn't see, and said he was
gonna drive from Manitowoc to the Cato Falls Park BLIND, using only
his MPS. Well, he made it alright, but he missed the parking lot by
about a third of a mile!"
The owner of a local toy store noted that Ward had visited his
business earlier, buying cheap toys and stuffing them into an ammo
box. "He said he had a new invention, and with it, he was going to
create a new hobby, or sport, of sorts. He called it
Magno-Caching".
Ward died when he blindly manuevered his car over the side of a
very steep hill, plowing through several trees on the way down. The
ammo box was seen flying through the blackened winshield when the
car came to its final, sudden rest.

Well MAGNO-CACHERS... see if you can find the one and only
Magno-Cache, placed over 60 years ago. The co-ordinates are to an
old car wreck (don't EVEN ask how it got there, I don't have the
slightest idea, and you'll see what I mean when you get there). The
cache itself is within 15 feet of the wreck... extremely well
concealed. Please be sure to replace it as found, and conceal it
just as well. Also, be careful, you can see the cache site from the
trail, so beware of other hikers that might see you removing or
replacing the cache. Don't forget to take your picture, and have
fun!!!
