Toothpick No. 2 Traditional Cache
TedTerry: Wife and I are in our eighties and find it difficult to get around. Even though Toothpick is a
beautiful spot, it required much upkeep. Would anyoone like to tale it over?

A quick find in a beautiful, waterside location.
But, whereas there have been security problems here, we feel it best to suggest cachers leave nothing of any value, like Travel Bugs, etc. They just disappear..
The Toothpick is the tall, red structure you can see from the geocache location. It was erected in 1873 by a Benjamin Butler as a navigation aid for his cargo ships. As you would travel up and down the Merrimack River, it would define the eastern end of the channel, while up in Newburyport, a pair of range lights would define the entire channel from the Toothpick to Newburyport.
