Geocache Description:

A lovely view over the Muscat port and palace bay.

Approach: From the (Old) Muscat to Muttrah coast road exit right at Kalbooh signpost and drive through the lovely village up to the public park. The park is USUALLY open for public access during daylight. Sometimes is open until late. (Late addition: Apparently the park is now open for public between 4 pm and 11 pm). You can park your car outside then head towards the other end of the park. Pass the amphitheater then, when reached the playground area, find your way between the brick wall and lush vegetation on the mountain side. From there you may go up to the cache location or start your climb to the watch tower.

Location: The cache location is a compromise between accessibility and great views. A better view would be from the watch tower nearby, however scrambling up to it is a bit challenging. The selected location offers magnificent views of the commercial port and the palace bay, and it is reasonably easy to access. Nonetheless, good sturdy shoes are required, especially for the descent.
Since in the area, reasonably fit geocachers can try to go on the other side of the mountain for a walk on a fairly undisturbed beach (the lucky ones can find big sea-shells), or, as already said, can go up to the old watch-tower, for an unimpeded view over the area.

Cache: The cache is a regular size Tupperware type plastic box containing one pencil, one logbook, an eraser, a pencil sharpener, a re-sealable pack of refreshing wet wipes (disposal bins are alot down in the park); since the cache theme is sea-related, you will find some tropical fish 3-d mini-puzzles, glow-in-the dark dolphin stickers, shark-shaped bottle opener / key-ring.

P.S. Late reports indicate that the park may be closed at midday. I guess this is the summer program, when the temperature is quite high around that time.
