Firstly, we must thank
Write and Mane
for the inspiration to set this cache. Their Cardiff pictorial
(
GCHJXW) is on a much grander scale than our Llandaff pictorial,
but we have to start somewhere with our first puzzle
cache!
The community of Llandaff is based
around the cathedral.
The cathedral dates from 1107, but has changed many times since
then. The most recent major change was in 1941 when a stray German
bomb caused massive destruction. There is a memorial stone in the
graveyard positioned on what was the centre of the bomb crater. If
you are new to the area, do try and take a look around. There are
pubs, a wine bar, restaurants, coffee shops and a convenience store
in the busy and prosperous High Street. You could easily spend half
a day discovering the area. If you are visiting Cardiff, then the
number 25 bus will take you to and from the Cardiff Central
rail/bus station to Llandaff. Don’t forget, Llandaff NORTH and
Llandaff are two different districts separated by the River
Taff.
We have photographed eight images centred around
historic Llandaff Cathedral. The pictures are, and the final clue
is, within 500 metres of the co-ordinates as listed for this cache. The cache
container is a small flip lid box. There is a “first to find” badge
in the container.
I would say that image locations are wheelchair accessible.
Depending on the order you find the clues, there will be at least
one climb from the cathedral entrance to the road level. The final
cache can be accessed from a wheelchair too. If you use a
wheelchair to complete the cache, please let others know how you
got on.
This is our first puzzle cache. We would be keen to hear your
feedback. We live and work locally and can easily maintain the
cache.
Pat and Dave.
Well done to Sniffadogz,
closely followed by Moche, for being the first to find our first
puzzle cache.
There are some standard caches not too far from here – take look at
the
Llandaff area caches Bookmark.
The clues below are not in any particular order. The idea is you
wander around the cathedral and village
