THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED
COORDINATES!
To find the cache, you will need to solve a mystery based on
photographs taken along the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon.
The listed coordinates are a good place to start. This is
under the Astoria Bridge at Uniontown Maritime Memorial Park.
Parking is available.
The photographs below were taken along a 2.3 mile section of the
riverfront. This is a very enjoyable, scenic and historic
walk (the "Riverwalk"). It also makes a fantastic bike
ride. Another option would be to walk the section and then
return on the trolley. On the trolley, look for
this cache.
Your goal will be to locate the site each photo was taken
from. When you find a site, try to stand in approximately the
position the photo was taken. Using your GPS receiver, record
the required digit for each photo as indicated below:

The photos are in order from west to east along the
riverfront.
When you find a site, don't worry too much if the last digit or
two of your GPS reading doesn't quite agree with those listed.
Once you have located each site and noted the required numbers,
build the coordinates for the final cache using the letters
indicated as follows:
N 46 1A.BCD
W 123 4E.FGH
To check the accuracy of your findings, apply a "checksum"
test: A + B + C + D + E + F + G + H = 38.
The cache is an ammo box. Since this is a popular trail,
please be discreet when retrieving the cache. Be sure to
visit the sea lions who live on the nearby boat docks.
