Geocache Description:

This is GeoChess! Cache is a camoed 35mm file canister.

This is GeoChess.

There are two ways to play GeoChess.

1.       One can play by themselves. And try to capture the King.

2.       Two people can play each other. By choosing different sides. And trying to capture the opponents King before He or She captures yours.

Note: If you do not wish to play the entire game please feel free to log each cache individually.

How to Capture the King?

Since the king is the most important Piece in the game of chess. And when he is captured it ends the game. He is going to be the hardest of all the pieces to capture. All of the other pieces are protecting him, especially the Queen.

One must first track down and capture all of the other pieces on the game board and record the number and letter associated with each one.

Once all the pieces have been collected they will give the coordinates to the Queen which holds the key to finding the king.

Note: All caches are placed in Lancaster County, SC including the Queen and King.

Chess piece – Pawn

The poor little pawns are put out in front right in harms way while the other guys are hiding back behind.  As per the rules of playing chess, they're expected to advance out in front and take the brunt of an oncoming attack or serve as a shield.  It seems rather unfair considering they're pretty defenseless.  These chess piece are allowed to only move one square at time by the rules of chess. However, in their first move, they can move two squares if they want.  They can only move straight forward - no retreating for these soldiers according of the chess rules.  And they can only capture one of the enemies by approaching diagonally.  But, according t the chess rules, if one of these brave little soldiers can make it to the other side, they are rewarded with a promotion - to a queen!  Some promotion that is!
