1700-tallet. Den nuværende altertavle stammer fra 1903. I krypten
under koret findes gravsted for familien Sandberg, samt provst M.
Windfeldt, der døde i 1773. Kirken fik nyt orgel i 1981.
Kilde:

[English] Thorning Church is located on Blichersvej in Thorning,
8620 Kjellerup, and is the main church of Thorning parish, in
Viborg diocese.
The church was built approximately 800 years ago and consists of a
chancel and nave in roman style. In 1743 the church was rebuilt and
extended towards west, and a so called stilt tower was built. On
the north wall hangs a late gothic relief made in alabaster (from
Nottingham) with Pietà as main figure. This is the remains of an
earlier altarpiece from the 17th century. The present altarpiece
dates from 1903. In the crypt the burial place of the Sandberg
family as well as rural dean M. Windfeldt, who died in 1773, can be
found. In 1981 a new organ was installed, this required a miner
modification of the church benches. One of the church’s ministers
was from 1819-1825 the Danish author Steen Steensen Blicher. In the
cemetery, west of the church tower, the gravestone of one of the
main characters in one of his songs, Mads Doss, as well as a
monument of Claus Vattrup, known from the Blicher-story of
Messingjens, is to be found. Jesper Langballe, member of the Danish
Parliament representing a right wing radical party, was a minister
at the church from 1975- 2007 Sources:
