Geocache Description:

Your mission is to find the Statue of Liberty in downtown Helsinki. Tehtävänäsi on löytää Vapaudenpatsas Helsingin keskustasta.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the Statue of Liberty in downtown Helsinki. Before you get going, here are a few important details. First, information to find this unique cache is only accessible Monday-Friday from 9.00 to 20.00 and Saturday from 9.00 to 16.00 (closed on Saturdays in July.) Second, there is a groovy prize for people completing this cache. Happy hunting! Once you find the GPS coordinates, proceed through the main doors of the building immediately in front of you. In this area you will need to deposit all bags, coats, etc. in the conveniently provided free lockers. After you drop off your stuff you can now proceed unencumbered toward Lady Liberty. Go through the main entrance, and pass through the main hall, being sure to spin around at least 3 times with your arms stretched out. You will then proceed into the next room, at which point you will take the stairs on either your left or right down to the basement. Now follow your nose toward the café (stopping for nourishment as needed), and then proceed down the stairs on either left or right. Go down the short hallway at the bottom of the stairs, then go up the stairs in front of you on the right. You will proceed up five flights of stairs (about two stories). At the top of the stairs (don’t pass the rope blocking off the stairs), go through the open doors in front of you and hang a hard left. Walk forward about 50 meters and through another set of double doors. You will then provide the secret phrase, “The Eagle Has Landed” to the person at the desk. (If someone isn’t there, look for the next clue on a table in that room.) You will be provided with a puzzle, which you need to solve. Once you have solved the puzzle you will be rewarded with a handful of information about the marvels of GPS and with a coordinates for final location of the cache. Distance from the starting point to the cache is about 1,5 kilometers.

Tehtävänäsi on löytää Vapaudenpatsas Helsingin keskustasta. Ennen tehtävään ryhtymistäsi otathan huomioon että 1) tiedot kätkön löytämiseksi ovat saatavilla ainoastaan ma-pe 9-20 ja la 9-16 välisenä aikana (suljettu heinäkuussa lauantaisin) sekä 2) kätkön löytäjille on luvassa huima palkinto. Onnea matkaan! Kun olet GPS -koordinaattien osoittamassa paikassa, mene rakennuksen etuovista sisään. Joudut jättämään päällysvaatteesi ja laukkusi aulassa sijaitseviin ilmaisiin lokeroihin. Voit sitten jatkaa matkaasi Vapaudenpatsaan luokse. Kulje suoraan kupolisalin läpi pyöreään saliin. Valitse sitten portaat alas joko oikealta tai vasemmalta puoleltasi. Kulje kohti kahvilaa ja jatka portaita alas, joko oikealta tai vasemmalta puoleltasi. Kulje käytävän päähän ja nouse kaksi kerrosta portaita ylös. Olet oikeassa kerroksessa kun törmäät köyteen, joka estää portaiden nousemisen ylöspäin. Jatka matkaasi vasemmalle ja kävele käytävää eteenpäin. Saavut palvelutiskille. ***UPDATE*** The cache has been repaired again (hopefully) to prevent accidental or willful removal. It is in the same location as the previous cache. Just look a bit harder. :) P.S. Bring a your own pen or pencil to log the visit.
