Geocache Description:

N is for Nose is to fulfill the requirement for MAMD's Vocabulary Virus cache GC17180.. Long over due.. I took this letter December 7th..

Did you know that people’s noses continue to grow throughout their life time...? I don’t know about you... but I know some folks have bigger noses than others.

In most mammals, the nose is the primary organ for smelling. That’s to say to smell others, not to make people who smell.

Another function with the nose is Nose-picking. Wikipedia defines nose-picking as: is the act of extracting mucus and/or foreign bodies from the nose with a finger or other object. This is an extremely common habit, with some surveys indicating that it is almost universal, with people picking their nose an average of about four times a day. Although a very common habit, it is a mildly taboo subject in most cultures. While nose picking appears to be an almost universal practice amongst humans, the observation of the activity in another commonly provokes the basic emotion of disgust. Nose-picking may carry a number of medical risks, thus most doctors recommend against it and encourage the use of a tissue instead.

OK enough on Nose-Picking.

Did you know that Dogs have VERY sensitive noses> Wiki says that Dogs have nearly 220 million smell-sensitive cells over an area about the size of a pocket handkerchief (compared to 5 million over an area the size of a postage stamp for humans).

Well, I hope you have learned something about the nose in this new vocabulary cache…
