Geocache Description:

This is my second cache and it's to fill an obligation as (almost) the First-to-Find for “5 of Diamonds”.

When the group of us did a hike to “DOH!” and “No Paine No Gain”, DJ and CAL had placed the “5 of Diamonds” cache and submitted it so it would be available as we hiked by this area.

Well, the cache wasn’t posted in the morning when we left the house and DJ kept an eye on it as we hiked up the mountain. When we got very close to the area, one more check showed that the cache had still not been published. So DJ called out the coords and the group headed to the area to begin the search.

I didn’t have a GPSr, but I have Sasha! Since everybody was headed ‘that way’ and Sasha needs to be in the lead, she ran ahead with me in tow and we got there first. And bingo, got to see the cache first!

DJ then read the following from the (not yet published) cache listing: “To log as FTF you must place a new cache within a 10 mile radius of this cache.” I agreed and we went on our way up Paine Mountain.

It turns out that “The Reason for the Delay” of the cache being published was indeed the requirement that a “new cache must be placed”!

From GPSfun:
“Groundspeak has asked us not to publish caches where a person or persons finding the cache must place a new one somewhere to meet the logging requirements. The primary reason for this is that not all good cache finders are good cache hiders, and conditions such as the one you made are resulting in some pretty questionable or lame hides.”

Once DJ and CAL removed the requirement to place a new cache, the 5 of Diamonds was officially published.

So, Sasha and I were only FTF of our hiking group. But still, here is my cache placement within a 10 mile radius.

About the cache:
This is a 2 stage multi. First stage is a micro, final is a lock-n-lock, and as you can imagine, it is a regular for trading!

I hope you have fun!
