Geocache Description:

***CHANGED LOCATION 14/01/09***

There's a track we really like which starts from Jacksons Bend in Huon Road, and goes up to Bracken Lane Fire Trail. It's a steep track but there are heaps and heaps of ferns, including some beautiful large manferns. Also along this track are a few of the hugest fallen logs on the mountain. They don't grow them like they used to!!!

For those interested in history, you might know that most of the Mountain was logged around the 1850's. These huge logs may well have been missed at the time. Also, there's a lovely old sandstone culvert near the bottom of this track, in the creek bed but up about 100 metres or so up the creek from the road. It possibly dates from the 1830's or 40's. (Pixelwarrior crawled up it with a torch to see where it went and got lots of cobwebs on her)

The track is steep and slippery at times, also you will need to look out for leeches, particularly after rain.

There's no need to leave the track to find the cache. You might need to use the hint, as GPS coverage is poor due to the heavy canopy. Small swaps only. Cache is a small Sistema container wrapped up inside a black plastic bag.
