I attended a geocaching event a few months ago and struck up a conversation with Hipointer and rjb43nh about the number of geocaches that have been placed on top of mountains. If you want a challenge in New Hampshire there are caches on Whitewall Mtn., Mt. Moosilauke, Mt. Willard, the Moat Range and Mt. Major to name a few. After a while both Highpointer and rjb43nh started talking about their hiking exploits before they started geocaching. Soon, I heard tales about Springer Mtn., Stoney Man Mtn., Mt. Rainier and Wheeler Peak and became fascinated with the idea of hiking mountains.
I had no idea where to begin, so they suggested that I contact the AMC to get proper instruction - which sounded like a great idea to me. Since I wanted to start locally in New Hampshire I asked them for suggestions. Highpointer suggested that I climb Owls Head, West Bond, Mt. Madison and Zealand Mtn.; while rjb43nh recommended Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Washington, Bondcliff, Mt. Garfield and Mt. Jefferson. I can't wait to get started!
The container is a preform tube hanging 7' up in an evergreen tree about 30' east of the stone wall. Coords bounce in this area. 3-21-24 I had to move the container about 50' away from solved coords, but should be easy with the hint.
