Located in River Bluff Park, off Old Allegan Rd in Saugatuck, MI. A half mile hike on a forest trail around Tyler Bayou leads you to the bank of the Kalamazoo River.
River Bluff is a Saugatuck Township park off Old Allegan Road in Allegan County, Michigan. Old Allegan Road was built in 1935, following a Native American trail which ran along the north shore of the Kalamazoo River. Stagecoaches ran this road, providing an important link between the city of Allegan and the lakeshore.
The park was created in 1968 when excess land, purchased for the building of I-196, was sold to the township.
Walk across the playground to the trailhead. The path twists through deciduous forest, around a marsh, over footbridges and past scenic overlooks. The path ends at a landing overlooking the Kalamazoo River. It's a half mile from the parking lot, and you'll treasure every step.
The park is open 9:00 am to sunset. Bring your dog. I'd wear shoes that I didn't mind getting muddy, and I'd bring bug spray in season. Bring a picnic lunch as there's a picnic table under a pavilion at trail's end. I understand the steelhead fishing is pretty good here. Relatively winter friendly for snowshoers, determined postholers, and intrepid x-c skiers.

This is the first cache I placed. It is a small Lock 'n Lock originally filled with bugs, aliens, angels, fools and heros. It's hidden in a traditional manner. Please cover it back up with bark and leaves to keep the muggles out!
