Kayak or canoe... On the Dan River...Use caution(Mud,slippery rocks, snakes, etc.check weather and river conditions)BYOP
Aaahh...the life of a river-rat...no city-rat race out here!...slow down...and enjoy!!!
Across the river from 3 Sisters(rocks)
3 Hour paddle trip, without looking for caches.
Bring water,food,sunscreen,etc.and waterproof GPS container!
Can you hear the Playwave?(After River Rat.)If your not wet yet, your gonna be! The next rapid is the best. The Playwave!Canoes should stay river left, the right side has a small channel, that I take in my kayak, both routes join before the big waves.A manmade rock stack/wall pushes water from right to the left, enhancing the waves.(All boats)If you hit the waves close to the wall its a bigger splash but you will miss under water rocks that you will thump if you dont...Good place to stop. (after rapid)
The Playwave is a class 1. At high water(not flood stage) an easy class 2. You may laugh at my little rapids! They make me smile!
Hanging Rock State Park property begins feet after River Rat,both sides of river, ends feet after Hanging Rock river access.
1 mile from River Rat to Hanging Rock river access.
3/4 mile from Playwave to Hanging Rock river access.
