Hald Sø-området kaldes ofte "smørklatten i Danmarks istidsgeologi". Det skyldes, at det var her, gletsjerstrømmene fra Norge og Østersø-egnene mødtes under den sidste istid. Her lå den største af de gletsjerporte, hvorfra smeltevand, grus og sand fossede ud og formede den flade hedeslette.
Højdeforholdene i området er næsten dramatiske efter danske forhold: Søen er op til 31 meter dyb, og syd for søen ved Skelhøje når terrænet en højde på over 80 meter over havet. Mod syd og øst er søen omkranset af stejle skrænter.
Hvordan opstod det dybe hul, som Hald Sø dækker i dag? Mange geologer mener, at Hald Sø-dalen er ældre end sidste istid, og at der i bunden af den tidligere dal har ligget en kæmpemæssig 20–30 m høj klump is – såkaldt "dødis" - som smeltevandet under sidste istid har løbet hen over og aflejrede materiale på. Da isklumpen siden smeltede, opstod hullet, som så løb fuld af vand.
Søens omgivelser er udpeget som ”Nationalt geologisk interesseområde” og har international betydning.
Non Mølle Å ligge i det nordlige hjørne af søen og er eneste udløb fra søen. Fra Skytteholmen mod Non Mølle er der anlagt en sti langs den kanal, som har forsynet den gamle mølle med vand. På den anden side af stien lå Non Mølle dambrug, der i dag er nedlagt.
Man mener, at der allerede i 1175 lå en vandmølle ved udløbet af Hald Sø, og at møllen tilhørte nonnerne på Asmild Kloster ved Viborg. På den lille bakke til højre, før man når hovedvej 13, findes der bygningsrester og anlagt frugthave, som menes at have tilhørt nonnerne.
Da man anlagde møllen måtte man opstemmede vandet i Hald Sø, hvorfor søens vandspejl er ca. 1 meter over naturligt niveau. Møllen er i dag nedlagt.

The Hald Sø territory is often called "the lump of butter in Denmark’s ice age geology". The reason is that it was here the glacier stream from Norway and the Østersø territory meet under the last ice age. Her lay the greatest of those glacier gates from where the melt water, gravel and sand gushed out and shaped the flat moorland.
The difference of height in the area is nearly dramatic after Danish proportions. The lake is up to 31 meter deep and south from the lake at Skelhøje the area goes up to nearly 80 over the ocean. Against south and east the lake is wreathed of sheer cliffs.
How was the deep hole, as the lake cover to day, made? Many geologists consider, that the Hald Sø walleye are older than the last ice age, and that there in the bottom of the earlier walleye has been of very big 20-30 meter high lump of ice, also called dead-ice, which the melt water under the last ice age, has steamed over and deposit material on. When the ice lump by time melted, the hole was created, and then run full of water.
Non Mølle Å, is to find in the Northern corner end of the lake, and is the only mouth of the "Hald Sø". From "Skytteholmen" to Non Mølle there has been made a path along the channel, which earlier has supplied the mill with water. On the other side of the path is Non Mølle fish farm, which to day is closed down.
It is possible, that the mill was here already in 1175, and that the mill belongs to the nuns of Almild Convent by Viborg. On the little hill near the A13, there are ruins and a old fruit garden, which have belonged to the nuns.
When they constructed the mill, it was necessity to increase to water in Hald Sø, why the water level is about 1 meter over natural level. The mill is now closed down.

The cache is a micro - black steel container - diameter 13 mm - length 36mm - placed at the coordinates. Only containing a logbook - remember a pencil.
When you have to put back the log, then roll it up tight, and put it into the top first, and then into the cylinder.
